GlobeRanger Solution Accelerators build on the iMotion platform to provide solutions for specific business problems. The following is a summary overview description of GlobeRanger’s Solution Accelerators.
SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure
Solution Accelerator
The SAP AII Solution Accelerator provides complete implementation of the Device Controller layer of the SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure, bringing the power of iMotion to SAP customers.
The SAP Auto-ID Solution Accelerator is certified by SAP for integration with SAP-based solutions.

Mobility Solution Accelerator
The Mobility SA provides a robust foundation for applications deployed on mobile readers (handhelds, forklift or vehicle-mounts).
Mobility SA Features:
- Connected or wireless (LAN or WAN) support:
Solutions can take advantage of cradled technology and migrate to wireless when available, without changing the application.
- Device manufacturer abstraction:
Abstracts the method of collecting RFID or barcode data so your application works the same on any device.
- Data security:
Addresses all levels of security for both the device and the transport method including encryption, authentication and role-based access.
- Message store and forward capability:
Guaranteed message delivery whether in or out of coverage when submitting mobile transaction updates.
- Connectivity auto sensing:
Message queue emptied automatically when the device restores connectivity or comes into coverage.
- Localized RFID encoding:
Libraries available to encode or decode EPC or other encoding schemes to extract field data or construct tag values.
- Application building blocks:
Various components, controls and libraries to accelerate the development of handheld applications.
- Mobile portal support:
Supports ability to associate handheld RFID or barcode reads with different physical locations, such as a dock door, staging area, etc.
- Reference application:
Full featured reference application that supports location based RFID and barcode data collection out of the box.
- Dynamic Navigation Technology:
Allows the developer to reuse GlobeRanger pre-built forms or build new forms in Microsoft Visual Studio.Net and “snap” the forms together in any desired order. Forms can be added or removed without writing or changing code.
Deployment Solution Accelerator
The Deployment SA enables the quick set-up and testing of fixed reader portals. It contains three functional pieces – generic site configuration module, tag analyzer, and antenna analytics.
Deployment SA Features:
- Generic configuration module:
Enables rapid deployment of readers, light stacks, photo-eyes, etc. to suit various fixed RFID infrastructures such as dock doors and conveyors. This is realized through pre-configured edge settings and workflows, and workflow components that allow real-time configuration of hardware properties.
- Tag analyzer :
Allows deployment engineers to record tag activity for one or more RFID readers. Specific data gathering ‘scenarios’ can be set up and the collected data is analyzed in real time to enable deployment troubleshooting.
- Antenna analytics:
Helps identify abnormal antenna performance by capturing and analyzing antenna data for a single triggered cycle or over time. When abnormalities are identified, detailed analytics are available to drill deeper into the source of the problems.
Visibility Solution Accelerator
The Visibility SA provides business reporting (text and graphical) capability, a dashboard, and local and remote access to these over the Web. In addition, a flexible event engine enables the creation of customized alerts and notifications. These capabilities are described below.
Visibility SA Features:
- Edge Web Portal:
Web site framework that supports secure user login, user management, role management, user privilege based access controls, location management, tag print management, generic web page templates.
- Edge Reports Portal:
Fully extensible edge reporting system with out of the box reports, a web based reporting support system, a reports generator tool based on SQL, a base database implementation for track and trace.
- Graphical Dashboard:
An extensible web based real time graphical dashboard system that supports a multitude of charts, gauges and number lines oriented so the developer can provide real time views of the edge RFID or sensor solution. Examples include reader and sensor health, server characteristics (CPU, memory, etc) as well as current status of your assets in motion.
EPCIS Solution Accelerator
The EPCIS SA enables rapid development of solutions that require access to an RFID repository. While this may be for an intra-organizational application, the major market is expected to be from multi-entity RFID deployments such as in a typical supply chain.
EPCIS SA Features:
- Structure:
The EPCIS SA consists of an EPCIS repository (with Capture and Query interfaces) and a Capturing Application that packages RFID events for storage in the repository. (It does not include the Querying application - GlobeRanger or a third-party solution developer can build the Querying application based on specific business requirements).
- Functionality:
The Capturing Application will generate repository events for each of the defined EPCIS event types - Object, Aggregation, Business Transaction, Quantity; have components to determine event attributes dynamically, and components to interact with repositories through Capture and Query interfaces. This product is completely based on EPCglobal standards.
- Graphical Dashboard:
An extensible web based real time graphical dashboard system that supports a multitude of charts, gauges and number lines oriented so the developer can provide real time views of the edge RFID or sensor solution. Examples include reader and sensor health, server characteristics (CPU, memory, etc) as well as current status of your assets in motion.
Enterprise Connectivity Solution Accelerator
Enterprise Connectivity SA(s) provide the means to quickly and reliably connect with the architectural frameworks of large infrastructure software companies. The following Enterprise SA(s) are available:
Enterprise Connectivity SA Features:
- SAP AII
The SAP AII SA allows RFID solutions to connect with SAP’s Auto-ID Infrastructure (AII) and thereby interface with back-end SAP systems.
Federal Solution Accelerator
The FSA is a collection of capabilities that support basic functionalities required in Government RFID deployments.
Federal SA Features:

Tag commissioning (encoding, serialization, writing, reading, label printing, verification); generic fixed site configuration; N-level hierarchy; control number association; management event controls; reconciliation; wide-area workflow (WAWF) integration framework; track and trace; and reporting
- Expansion Packs:
EPC Encoding and Decoding Expansion Pack and Printing Expansion Pack are included in this SA
Unique Identification Solution Accelerator
The UID SA is a collection of capabilities that support implementation of the DoD’s UID requirements.
UID SA Features:
- Included Modules:
UID encoding adapter, UID tag commissioning, UID verification, serial number management, UID registry integration, track and trace, N-level hierarchy, creation of local repositories of documents of record, wide-area workflow (WAWF) integration and reporting.
DoD Supplier Solution Accelerator
The DoD Supplier SA is a collection of capabilities that support implementation of the DoD’s passive RFID tagging requirements.
DoD Supplier SA Features:
- Included Modules:
Tag commissioning (encoding, serialization, writing, reading, label printing, verification); generic fixed site configuration; N-level hierarchy; ASN submission to wide-area workflow (WAWF); track and trace; and reporting.
Retail Compliance Solution Accelerator
The Retail Compliance SA is a collection of capabilities that support implementation of passive RFID tagging requirements mandated by retailers.
